Biosystem Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 1994 under the name of Agricultural Machinery Engineering Department in order to provide expert staff in the field of design, construction and application of machines and equipment needed for agriculture in the eastern regions of the country. Currently, the group consists of 10 faculty members, which of course benefits from the presence of 3 retired professors. Following the revision of agricultural fields in 2013, this field was renamed to biosystem engineering. Currently, the Biosystem Mechanics Engineering Educational Department continues its scientific and research activities in two related scientific fields, namely "Biosystem Mechanics" and "Agricultural Mechanization" and accepts students up to the doctoral level in both fields.
